Great book and interesting features throughout that keep you thinking and on your toes.
Within 24 hours of receiving this awesome book I was literally using examples from it on our whiteboard in a fiscal officers meeting. Pages 44-45 give a new way of thinking about the difficult situation our hospital is in. Dr. Martin has created a tremendous resource with this book. You can almost see his mind at work. Some concepts are just common sense but they are presented in a visual way that makes you not only think about them but share them. I look forward to sharing this with those within my college as well as my friends. It's truly one of those tools that will not sit on shelf as it simply has too many ideas that need to be shared. It was funny when a colleague was talking about leadership and it instantly turned to pages 66-67. Hey Dr. Martin, is that a gazelle or a donkey?? Thanks for a wonderful resource!! Using a white board is very powerful. Many problems have been solved using this simple and effective tool. It is great for brainstorming to solicit the input of many individuals so that you can capture a great diversity of thought. Making things visible is a good way to promote acceptance of the proposed solution. Every leader should have a white board in their office.
Whiteboard business models that inspire action is an amazing book, it’s not every day you get to read a business book that does not put you to sleep, instead it got me pumped about work again! My first introduction to Daren Martin’s books was through his book A Company of Owners which I got as a gift. It was such as easy read, very visual and packed with actionable content and real world solutions. While reading it I was so entertained that I knew I had to get copies for everyone in my company, I knew if everyone is reading it together it would really make an impact on our company culture (I contacted him through his website and got a great deal on bulk pricing). His other books were just as amazing, so much so that I sent copies to all the senior executives that I know as well as my boss and my previous mentor.
Because of their portable size it makes it easy for me to carry copies of his books in my purse, which is great because when I go to a meeting and start quoting his real world solutions to the problems that so many companies face, I love having the books handy to reference.
